You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high-aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between.<br><br>We are seeking a highly motivated <strong>Field & Customer Quality Engineering Technician</strong> to help drive quality improvements based on field and customer feedback, support root cause investigations, and strengthen our understanding of product performance outside the factory. The role involves managing quality-related initiatives from identification through resolution—including data analysis and reporting, cross-functional coordination, and follow-through on corrective and preventive actions. You will be expected to work with minimal guidance, juggle multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical and critical thinking skills (“soft” skills) with practical experience using data tools and quality processes (“hard” skills).<br><br><strong>What You'll Do<br><br></strong><li>Assist Field & Customer Quality Engineers in discrete quality improvement projects from concept to completion across dynamic, cross-functional environments</li><li>Support root cause investigations and resolutions related to field-reported and customer-facing quality issues, including hands-on defect sample handling from receipt through analysis</li><li>Coordinate logistics for defect samples, including pickup, delivery, tracking, and chain-of-custody to ensure timely transfer between service locations, engineering labs, and analysis teams</li><li>Perform sample preparation activities to support investigations, including dissection, sorting, labeling, and documentation of field-returned parts and customer-reported defects</li><li>Analyze field and customer quality data to identify trends, failure modes, and opportunities for corrective and preventive action</li><li>Support validation of corrective actions in the field and confirm effectiveness of implemented fixes </li><li>Assist in defining quality standards, escalation criteria, sample-handling procedures, and operating requirements for field and customer quality processes</li><li>Support quality audits, inspections, and reviews related to field operations and customer experience<br><br><br></li><strong>What You'll Bring<br><br></strong><li>0 to 5 years’ experience in quality engineering, field service, manufacturing, or a related technical environment</li><li>BS in a technical discipline and evidence of exceptional experience, or equivalent practical experience</li><li>Experience with field quality, customer quality, service operations, or high-reliability products (automotive, medical, aerospace, or consumer electronics) is preferred</li><li>Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret trends, summarize findings, and support data-driven decisions; programming experience (SQL) is a plus</li><li>Proven ability to work cross-functionally, build relationships across teams, and operate effectively with minimal day-to-day guidance and strong project management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and follow through persistently to completion</li><li>Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills with experience supporting or leading root cause analysis </li><li>Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and must possess a bias for action, with the ability to remain engaged, proactive, and positive in challenging circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for overall success. </li><li>Must have command of the English language both written and verbal<br><br><br></li>Essential Physical Demands:<br><li>Ability to wear PPE, which may include a full-face respirator and coveralls as needed due to working with hazardous chemicals</li><li>Ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 lbs. as needed<br><br><br></li><strong>Benefits<br></strong><strong>Compensation and Benefits<br></strong>Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:<br><br><ul><ul><li> Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction</li><li> Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits</li><li> Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution</li><li> Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA</li><li> Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)</li><li> 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits</li><li> Company paid Basic Life, AD&D</li><li> Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period)</li><li> Employee Assistance Program</li><li> Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays</li><li> Back-up childcare and parenting support resources</li><li> Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance</li><li> Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs</li><li> Tesla Babies program</li><li> Commuter benefits</li><li> Employee discounts and perks program</li></ul></ul>
